Deary and Larson Capture All Star Reining Stakes Open Futurity Titles at Congress

COLUMBUS, Ohio - October 5, 2026 - The All Star Reining Stakes crowned its Level 3 and Level 4 Open Futurity champions Saturday, October 3, in the Coughlin Celeste Center at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, with Casey Deary and Jordan Larson taking top honors. Casey Deary guided Upgrayed, owned by Jose Fernando Fagundes, to a 224.5 to secure the Level 4 championship and $50,000 from the All Star Reining Stakes. Sired by ASRS-nominated stallion Spooks Gotta Whiz, Upgrayed finished one point ahead of four reserve champions.

L4 Futurity Champions: Casey Deary & Upgrayed

In Level 3, Jordan Larson and Sixty Six Stops claimed the championship with a 223.5, earning $20,000 for owner Ixtul Quarter Horses LLC. Together with their Level 4 reserve finish, the pair collected $39,065.71 in ASRS finals earnings.

All Star Open Derby Celebrates its Champions and Growing Future

A $165,919 payout and a larger field reward a year of listening to exhibitors and investing in the Open Derby

COLUMBUS, Ohio — When the final scores were posted at the 2026 All Star Reining Stakes Open Derby on September 27, there was plenty to celebrate. Cade McCutcheon had earned another Level 4 title, Brandon Brant had guided Gotta Be Big Time to the Level 3 championship, and Nimroid Vannietvelt and Trashy Little Girl had claimed two championships with one run. For the All Star team, seeing those accomplishments rewarded by a growing event made the day especially meaningful.

Held at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, this year’s Open Derby paid $165,919.33 across four levels, up 43 percent from 2025 and nearly 92 percent from 2024. Behind that growth was a commitment to listen to exhibitors, improve the schedule and put more money into the competition. This year, exhibitors answered with their support.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - September 30, 2026 - Two days of Open Futurity competition at the All American Quarter Horse Congress brought new champions, memorable performances and another milestone for the All Star Reining Stakes. With record entries and the largest added-money commitment in program history, the 2026 event continues to turn growing support into meaningful rewards for horses, riders and owners.

Valentino Guinovart and Gunna Voodoo You, owned by Buckshot Farms, captured the Level 1 Open Futurity championship with a 217, earning $7,500 for the title. Their performance edged out Wyatt Deary and Mary Kimelman’s Live And Let Die, who finished reserve with a 216.5. In the Level 2 Open Futurity, Joe Schmidt and All Cocoa No Cream delivered a 218.5 to claim the championship and its $12,500 payday for owner Vaughn Zimmerman. Jesse Beckley aboard Whizzin Repeat and Shelby Guthrie riding Americasnextspark shared reserve honors with matching scores of 217.

Early Entries Signal Major Growth For 2026 All Star Reining Stakes

Record added money and exhibitor-focused schedule changes drive Open Derby momentum

COLUMBUS, Ohio — With the 2026 All American Quarter Horse Congress still a month away, early entry numbers are already generating tremendous excitement for the All Star Reining Stakes. While late entries are expected to continue arriving through the beginning of September, preliminary numbers show impressive growth across several levels of competition—setting the stage for what could be the largest and most rewarding year in the program’s history.

The most significant growth thus far can be seen in the All Star Open Derby. The increase follows a major expansion of added money and an important schedule adjustment designed to make the event more exhibitor-friendly.

“Exhibitors talked, and we listened,” said All Star Reining Stakes Managing Member Shannon Rafacz.

“The Open Derby schedule was the most consistent piece of constructive feedback we received following the 2025 event. We made it a priority to respond, and we are thrilled with how positively those changes are being received.”
